2nd.: You Can Run, but You Cannot Hide

Too late, Adam and Eve realized their blunder.
Their first mistake was that
They had eaten from the tree of the knowledge good and evil.
They were going to find out what evil was like,
not in an academic, bookish way, but by having to live through  it.

Their second mistake was that they hid from God (Gen. 3:8).

God went looking for them. “Where are you?” (Gen. 3:9b).
Adam answered,
“I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.” (Gen. 3:10).
God responded, “Who told thee that thou was naked? Have you eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou should not eat?” (Gen. 3:11).
Adam blamed Eve, “The woman whom thou gave with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.” (Gen. 3:12).
Eve blamed the serpent, “The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.” (Gen. 3:13b).

God then pronounced the consequences upon the serpent, Eve, and Adam (Gen. 3:14-17).

What would have happened, if Adam and Eve had run to God, instead of away from God.
What would have happened if they had begged for mercy?
Would God have shown mercy?
Would He have pronounced a lesser punishment?
We can't answer these questions.
Yet, we can ask, 'What about for us?'
Will we run and hide, or will we run to God saying, “Help me, I messed up.”

Return to Home
“He that covers his sins shall not prosper,
but whoso confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy.” (Pr. 28:13)
