Evil to Continue
Why does God allow evil to continue?
Some people ask the question.
If God is a good God, why does he allow evil to continue?
This question has been answered in many different ways,
sometimes depending on the motive of the asker, who asks the question.
An internet search can find some of those answers.
Nevertheless, it is sometimes good to answer a question with a question.
For example take this conversation:
Q: If God is a good God, why does he allow evil to continue?
A: If God were to find evil in you, would you want him to:
1. Take you out (i.e. destroy your soul)?
2. Offer you mercy, and the chance to expunge your sins?
The Bible teaches that all of us have sinned (done evil), (Romans 3:23)
"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." (1 John 1:8).
We are all guilty before God.
And the punishment for this sin, is death (Romans 6:23).
So then, for God to put away evil, he would have to put all of us away.
But, because our Creator loves us, he offers us mercy.
He offers us the chance to expunge our sins.
God sent his only begotten Son to die for our sins.
Jesus of Nazareth hung in our place to receive the punishment for what we have done.
If we will confess our sins, to God himself, and ask Jesus to save us, he will.
He will then forgive us from our sins, and he will cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9).
We are saved grace [God simply being nice to us]
through faith [just accepting as true that God will be nice to us]
God offers this salvation from our sins, and the coming wrath of God, as a gift. (Ephesians 2:8)
It is not given as a reward for being good.
Nor does God owe us salvation.
He simply wants to be nice to us, because he loves us.
But we have to reach out, and accept this gift [or not].
We can receive this gift through prayer.
