9th.: When Abram’s Faith Waivered

Decades had passed, since God gave his promises.
But nothing was happening.
Abraham and Sarah were going on ninety plus.
Year ago, God had promised a seventy five year old, and childless, Abraham that he would have a son (see Gen. 12: 1-4).

Abram began to doubt.
The next time God appeared to Abram (see Gen. 15:1), Abram was ready.

“Lord God, what will thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house
is this Eliezer of Damascus? … Behold, to me thou has given no seed, and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.” (Gen. 15:2-3).

God did not rebuke Abram. Instead, God reassured Abram (Gen. 15:4-5).
Abram again believed the Lord, and we see, “He [God] counted it to him for righteousness.” (Gen. 15:6).
Abram’s belief pleased God.
Later (Romans 5:20) we are told that Abram staggered (walked unsteadily)
not at the promise of God, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God.” (Rom. 5:20).

Sometimes faith in God waivers. Difficult situations, or  difficult questions, can leave us confused.

When our faith wavers, what will we do?
Will we take our genuine concerns to God.
Or will we walk away from God?
