9th.: Passing the Baton of Leadership

All leadership positions must come to an end.
God told Moses, “Get thee upon into this Mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given the children of Israel.
And when thou has seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people.” (Num. 27:12-13).

Moses' time was almost up.
He took the next step in his leadership responsibilities.
Moses asked the Lord,

“Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation.
Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them,
and which may lead them out, and bring them in, that the congregation of the Lord be not as sheep which have no shepherd.” (Num. 27:16-17).

Moses kept looking out for the nation of Israel.
He knew that Israel would soon enter the Promised Land.
He knew they needed a point man for the people to rally around.
The Lord named Joshua to be successor (Num. 27:18).

Christian leaders can't be in charge for ever.
They need to ask the Lord for their successors.
