9th.: God Identifies with Jacob

Jacob/Israel was overjoyed to hear that Joseph was still alive, albeit living in Egypt.
He wanted to express this joy by offering God a sacrifice of thanksgivings.

“And Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices
unto the God of his father Isaac.”

God then responded, “’Jacob, Jacob.’ And he said, ‘Here am I.’ And He said, ‘I am God, the God of thy father.
Fear not to go down into Egypt, for I will make of thee a great nation. I will go down with thee into Egypt,
and I will also surely bring thee up again, and Joseph shall put his hand upon thine eyes.’” (Gen. 46:1-4).

How often do we offer God thanksgiving for His benefits to us?
More importantly, God identified Himself as not just the God of Abraham and Isaac, but simply as God, almost like, He was the God of Jacob, as well.
We can identify YHWH as our God, but how much is YHWH proud to declare us as His children?

Today, is a good day to begin that relationship with God by calling to Jesus of Nazareth.
Return to Home
“I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the Lord.” (Ps. 116:17) “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father, which is in heaven,“ –Jesus (Matt. 10:32)
