8th.: When King David Did NOT Pray

Have you ever wondered what happens when we don't pray?

King David found this out the hard way.

Sometime after being crowned King of Israel (2nd. Sam. 5:5-10),
David decided to move the Ark of the Lord to Jerusalem (2nd Sam. 6:2).
Unfortunately, he did not move it in the way that God prescribed. (Deut. 10:8, and Exo. 25:14 gave the method)

Rather, David “set the ark of God upon a new cart,” (2nd Sam. 6:31).
“And when they came to Nachon’s threshing floor, Uzzah [one of the drivers]
put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold, for the oxen shook it.
And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah,
and God smote him there for his error, and there he died by the ark of God.” (2nd Sam. 6:6-7).

This event discombobulated King David.
“David was displeased, because the Lord had made a breach upon Uzzah.” (2nd Sam. 6:8a)
“And David was afraid of the Lord, and said, ‘How shall the ark of the Lord come to me?’” (2nd Sam. 6:9).

Sometimes, an event can be so disconcerting, we ‘cannot’ pray right at that moment.
It is best if we can.
But if not.
Once the shock wears off, get back with the Lord.

If you are mad at the Lord, tell him. He is mature enough to handle it.
I did this once, I told the Lord that I was mad at him. And he took care of it.
He did not change the circumstances, but he changed my attitude.
