(The text of the prayer is given in Nehemiah 1:5-11, and in yesterday's section.
Summarizing Nehemiah prayed
a. Confessing that we (Israel) disobeyed you, God by
Not keeping the commandments/statues/judgements which you gave us.
b. Remembering the warnings that God gave.
c. Remembering the conditional promises that God gave (Neh 1:8-10).
d. Asked God to listen to his prayer.
e. Stated (bragged or promised) that he wanted to fear God's name.
f. Asked God to show him mercy (favor?) in the ideas of Nehemiah's boss, the Assyria king.
We too can confess, what we have done, and why it was wrong.
Then cite the verses that tell us what we should have done, and should still do.
And then finish by asking for God's favor.
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom” (Col. 3:16a)
