7th.: Gideon: Where be the Lord’s miracles?
Everyone loved talking about God's supernatural protection.
But rebukes like that of the prophet in Judg. 6: 8-10 were probably not talked about.
Therefore, even though God officially proclaimed why He sent the Midianites to invade Israel (see Judg. 6:1-6),
not everyone may have heard.
Consequently when, “the angel of the Lord appeared unto Gideon, and said unto him, ‘The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.’” (Judg. 6:12),
Gideon’s immediate response was,
“If the Lord be with us, why then is all this befallen us? And where be all his miracles, which our fathers told us of, saying ‘Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of Midian?” (Judg. 6:13).
Gideon mentioned only part of the history of Israel.
Yet, the Lord did not chew out Gideon for his ignorance.
The Lord simply said,
“Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites.” (Judg. 6:14).
Likewise, when we come to the Lord, we will only have some of the truth.
Therefore, we must keep in mind that our questions to Him may be a little ignorant.
Fortunately, the Lord will not necessarily hold that against us.
“The ear of the wise seeks knowledge.” (Pr. 18:15b)
