6th.: Hannah’s Eloquent Thanks – Death into Life
Hannah returned to praising God:
a. The Lord kills, and makes alive. (1st Sam. 2:6a).
b. He brings down to the grave, and brings up. (1st Sam. 2:6b).
Hannah emphasized a portion of God’s transformative power by saying
i. That He can kill, but
ii. He can also bring things back to life.
She accentuates this by rewording it as:
‘He brings down to the grave’
‘And [He] brings up [from the grave].’
Poetically speaking, Peninnah had life, and Hannah had been in the grave.
Hannah’s blood line was going to die out, because she had no children.
But God resurrected her blood line, by bringing Samuel into her life.
God had brought Hannah back to life.
For all these things, Hannah thanked God.
We too can thank God, when He transforms our lives from death to life.
… “In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.” (Job 12:10)
