6th.: Enoch’s Fellowship with God
Several generations had passed.
Most people wanted God to keep his distance. (see Gen. 4:26b).
There was one exception.
A man named Enoch. He was in the seventh generation from the Creation.
The Bible tell us,
“Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him.” (Genesis 5:24).
Enoch spent much time with God.
They must have had many conversations, perhaps about Adam, Eve, Abel, Lamech, how to plant beets(?), the violence of others, and many other things.
Heb. 5:11 tells us, “By faith, Enoch was translated that he should not see death, and was not found, because God had translated him for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.”
This was different.
God seemed to so enjoy the fellowship with Enoch, that he simply ‘took Enoch’. The writer of Hebrews implied that Enoch was taken straight to heaven, without having to physically die. That was a close relationship with God.
We too can have a close relationship with God. If we go through Jesus, we can be reconciled
with God the Father (and hence the Holy Spirit). My might not get the privilege of going straight to heaven without physically dying. But only one person got that privilege.
"And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13
