5th.: Pray Without Ceasing

Per the Lord's command (see yesterday) David went to Hebron.
There, the men of the tribe of Judah anointed him King (2nd Sam. 2:4).
The lengthy passage 2nd Sam. 2:8 through 2nd Sam. 5:5 describes the seven years of war
David had with King Saul’s successors.
Even though David was winning, it was discord in the ranks of David’s rivals that caused their final collapse.
Once they collapsed, David took over the whole kingdom.
None of David’s prayers spoken during this civil war were important enough to include in the history book, (the book of 2nd Samuel).
Nevertheless, it would have been out of character for David not to pray.
Indeed, some of David’s prayers during those seven years may be some of the psalms of David, which have no subtitles.

Sometimes, we are in a multi-year stretch of time, which seems to have no end.
Nevertheless, we must continue to pray - to seek the Lord - even if those prayers are ‘relatively unimportant’,
and will be forgotten by mankind, or even ourselves.
