5th.: God’s Favour
We all will listen to some people very quickly.
Other people, not at all, if we can help it.
God seems to do this as well.
For example, God told Moses,
“I will do this thing also that thou has spoken, for thou have found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.” (Exo. 33:17).
In contrast, God spoke to the three main friends of Job,
“Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks, and seven rams, and go to my servant Job,
and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering, and my servant Job shall pray for you;
for him will I accept, lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right,
like my servant Job.” (Job 42:8).
God was annoyed at Job’s three friends.
Nevertheless, God showed them mercy, by having Job intercede for them.
Those three friends were in trouble, but if Job asked God to spare them, then God would spare them.
Why is God showing favoritism toward Job, and 'not the three friends'?
Maybe there is a better question to ask.
‘How can we get into, and maintain, a relationship with God, where He will readily hearken to our requests?’
“In the light of the king’s countenance is life. And his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.” (Pr. 16:15)
