4th.: But Saul will Kill Me!
Saul’s disobedience disappointed the Lord (see 1st Sam. 13:8-14 & 1st Sam. 15).
Therefore, the Lord decided to make someone else king.
The Lord told Samuel,
“How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him.
Fill thine horn with oil, and go. I will send thee to Jesse, the Bethlehemite,
for I have provided me a king among his sons.” (1st Sam. 16:1).
Samuel mourned for Saul, until he got a word from the Lord.
Samuel then asked,
“How can I go. If Saul hears of it, he will kill me.” (1st Sam. 16:2a).
The Lord did not object to Samuel's question.
Rather, He answered,
“Take an heifer with thee, and say, ‘I am come to sacrifice to the Lord.’” (1st Sam. 16:2b).
The Lord may ask some of us to do very dangerous tasks.
Nevertheless, we may raise any specific safety concerns to Him.
He will then tell us, how we are to work through those safety concerns,
or that He will protect us, possibly supernaturally, or that he will simply strengthen us to endure the pain.
Return to Home“Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouth of lions. …
And others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection” (Heb. 11:33,35b)
