30th.: Be Merciful Lord

The Bible also has the writings of various minor prophets.
These were the guys who had shorter books.
They too prayed.
We see example of their prayers below.

Joel
“O Lord, to thee will I cry, for the fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness.” (Joel 1:19a).
“Spare thy people, O Lord, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them.
Wherefore should they say among the people, ‘Where is their God?’ ” (Joel 2:17b).

Amos
“And it came to pass, that when they [swarming grasshoppers] had made an end of eating the grass of the land,
then I said, “O Lord, forgive, I beseech thee. By whom shall Jacob arise, for he is small?” (Amos 7:2).
“Behold the Lord God called to contend by fire. … Then said I, ‘O Lord God, cease, I beseech thee.
By whom shall Jacob arrive, for he is small?’” (Amos 7:4-5).

Micah
“Who is a God like unto thee that pardons iniquity. …
He retains not his anger forever, because he delights in mercy.” (Micah 7:18).

All of these prophets requested God’s mercy.

Likewise, we can ask God to be merciful to our country, when troubles come our way.

Return to Home
“I exhort therefore, that first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men.
For kings, and for all that are in authority. (1st Tim. 2:1-2a)
