2nd.: Impossible
Many reputable people dispute that a séancer could 'raise' Samuel’s soul from the dead.
They give any number of reasons why summoning spirits is impossible.
One reason given is that science has disproved the supernatural world.
Science actually cannot disprove the supernatural world per-se, as it is limited ‘by nature’ to
directly study only natural causes.
In this case, an underlying philosophy that ‘denies the supernatural world’ drives the claim that dead souls (or spirits masquerading as risen souls) cannot appear.
Colossians 2:8 warns us, “Beware lest any man take you captive through philosophy and vain deceit,
after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”
God’s word has recorded for us that God allowed Samuel’s soul to rise up and talk with King Saul.
If the ones who dispute the truth of this event can persuade you that their philosophy is correct (i.e. take you captive)
then they will get you to doubt the supernatural events presented in the Bible.
Doubting God’s word damages faith in God himself. This lack of faith in God negatively affects our prayers.
On the other hand, the more we trust God’s word, the more likely we shall take God at his word,
which can then result in bolder requests to the Lord.
“But without faith, it is impossible to please him. For he that comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Heb. 11:6)
