27th.: Why so long Hannah?
Like so many of us,
When she couldn't take it any longer, Hannah prayed,
“And she vowed a vow, and said, ‘O Lord of hosts.
If thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid,
and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid,
but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child,
then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life,
and there shall no razor come upon his head.’” (1st Sam. 1:10-11).
We don't wish to be insensitive.
But we must ask a question.
“Why did not Hannah take this problem to the Lord sooner?”
1. Maybe she is like most of us, and simply wanted to ignore the problem,
2. Hope that her adversary would grow tired of being mean,
3. Be strong!
. Respond with any number of other various & changing, actions.
She did everything, but take it to the Lord.
Maybe, it simply takes the pain of suffering for so long to get us to take our problems to the Lord.
But if we were to take our problems to the Lord sooner,
then we might not have to suffer the serious anguish that so many of us go through.
True, the circumstances may not actually change,
but at least the Lord can give us peace of mind, or wisdom, or perspective, or whatever – sooner.
“And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Phili. 4:7)
