27th.: Lest They Break Through

Before Moses brought the people before God, God set some boundaries, literally:

“And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying,
‘Take heed to yourselves, that you go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it.
Whosoever touches the mount shall be surely put to death.” (Exo. 19:12).

God ordained a strong barrier be put between His holiness, and the people’s profaneness.
Those who crossed this boundary without permission were in danger of dying.
God then called Moses up to the top of the mountain.
After an undetermined interval, God told Moses to go back down to remind the people not to break past the boundary, and gaze upon the Lord (Exo. 19:21).

Since that time, God has reset the boundaries at the cross of Christ.
Hebrews 11:4:14,16 tells us,
"Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens,
Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.  Let us therefore come boldly to
the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace in time of need."

We don't have to stop at the boundaries, which God told Moses to set-up. We can 'follow Moses' all the way up, thanks to Jesus.

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace. (Heb 4:16a)
