26th.: Hannah: “Please give me a son!!!!”

1st Sam. Chapter 1. tells us of an ordinary woman in ancient Israel, named Hannah.

She was married to a man who had two wives.
Hannah's rival had children.
Hannah had none.
Therefore, the other woman treated her cruelly.
Hannah’s husband, tried to be understanding, but in an insensitive male sort of way.
For example he said, “Am not I better to thee than ten sons?” (1st Sam. 1:8).
No help there.

One year, when the three went up to Jerusalem to sacrifice to the Lord,
Hannah asked God “… ‘O Lord of hosts. If thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid,
and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child,
then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.’” (1st Sam. 1:10-11).

Hannah's sorrows wore her out. When she could stand it no more, she took the problem to the Lord.
As things turned out, the Lord granted her request, and this son became the reknown prophet Samuel.
