22nd.: King Zedekiah

King Nebuchadrezzer dismantled Israel, and breached the wall of Jerusalem.
His goal - King Zedekiah.

Before this happened, several times King Zedekiah asked the prophet Jeremiah for a word from the Lord.

At different Zedekiah worded his request in various ways, as we see,

1. "Inquire, I pray thee, of the Lord for us, for Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon makes war against us,
if so be that the Lord will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us.” (Jer. 21:1-2).

2. “Then Zedekiah … asked him secretly … ‘Is there any word from the Lord.’” (Jer. 37:17).

3. “Then Zedekiah … took Jeremiah … and the king said, ‘I will ask thee a thing, hide nothing from me.’” (Jer. 38:14).

God’s specific answers to Zedekiah varied in length, but they all said the same thing,

“I will deliver Zedekiah, king of Judah … into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon. He that abides in this city shall die …, but

Normally, you would think this was a good thing.

Unfortunately, Zedekiah did not want to listen.

Furthermore, Zedekiah never gave the Lord a good reason to change the answer.
If we have an answer from the Lord, then that will be the answer,
unless we can give a good reason for why the Lord should change His answer.

How many times do we ask the Lord for something, but we really don't want to listen.
