22nd.: Abraham, ‘Hi God’

Abraham made treaties with Abimelech, and his top general.

The terms were:
1. Abimelech, and his servants, would leave Abraham’s most recent well alone.

The well became known as Beersheba, or “The Well of the Oath.” (Gen. 21:22-32).
After this “Abraham planted a grove or a tree in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the Lord, the everlasting God." (Gen. 21:33).

What Abraham said, or how he asked, is not recorded for us.
Maybe Abraham was looking to God for deliverance from something.
Maybe Abraham just wanted some time with God.

Nevertheless, God did not speak again with Abraham until chapter 22, when the next major event took place in Abraham’s life.
There is nothing wrong with us taking time out to just get with God.

Return to Home
“The Lord is near unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him. He also will hear their cry, and will save them. The Lord preserves all them that love him.” (Ps. 145:18-20a)
