21st.: Why Do You Cry to Me?
After being released, Moses led Israel to the Red Sea (see Exo. 13:17-Exo. 14:4).
Because of the death of his first-born son (see Exo. 11:5), Pharaoh hated what happened.
When Pharaoh saw Israel trapped against the Red Sea, he took his army and went after them (see Exo. 14:5-9).
This terrified the Israelites (Exo. 14:10).
“The children of Israel cried out to the Lord” (Exo. 14:10d).
But they also complained to Moses (Exo. 14:11-12).
With great confidence in the Lord, Moses encouraged them that they did not have to fight.
They only had to watch the salvation of the Lord (Exo. 14:13-14).
The Lord then answered Moses, “And the Lord said unto Moses, ‘Wherefore do thou cry unto me?
Speak unto the children of Israel that they go forward [toward the Red Sea].’”
God then told Moses to lift up his staff, and the waters of the Red Sea parted, with Israel going through.
The Egyptian soldiers followed after the Israelites, forgetting what God the plagues that God had sent them.
Brought closed the Red Sea on the Egyptian soldiers, drowning them (Exo. 14:15-31).
There may be occasions, when God will answer our heartfelt need, without us having to utter any a word.
“And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer.” (Isa. 65:24)
