1st.: But, But, I am a Little Kid.
God ordained Jeremiah of Hilkiah to be a prophet, with
“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee, and before thou came forth out of the womb,
I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” (Jer. 1:5)
But Jeremiah objected,
“Ah, Lord God, behold I cannot speak, for I am a child.” (Jer. 1:6).
Because he chose the word ‘child’, it is likely that Jeremiah was not yet thirteen.
Jeremiah thought that people would not listen to him, because of how young he was.
God heard out Jeremiah’s point.
When Jeremiah finished,
God answered, “Say not, ‘I am a child’, for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee,
thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces, for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord.” (Jer. 1:7-8).
God was not going to rely on Jeremiah's age. Rather God was going to do a work despite Jeremiah's age.
It was not about Jeremiah. Rather, it is about God speaking to the nation of Israel, in any way He wants.
“My strength is made perfect in weakness.” (2nd Cor. 12:9b)
