19th.: Saul and the Spirit of God

Several 'coincidants' were to take place in Saul's life.
God was actually showing Saul that He, God, was working -
that God was interested in him.  (1st Sam. 10:1-5).
One was, “the Spirit of the Lord would come upon him, and make him prophesy, and turn him into another man” (1st Sam. 10:6).

Sometime later,  (1st Sam. 10:17-24), Saul went to his house.
Then a report came to Saul that the Amorites had surrounded the Israelite city of Jabeshgilead.
“The Spirit of God came upon Saul, when he heard those tidings, and his anger was kindled greatly.” (1st Sam. 11:6).
Saul rallied the Israelites to defend Jabeshgilead.
After beating the Amorite army, the people of Israel went to Gilgal to crown Saul king of Israel (1st Sam. 11:7-15).
These two times that the Spirit of God came upon Saul
were perhaps the closest that Saul got to God.
After these two times, Saul and God, drifted apart.
Let us learn from this, and not draw away from God.

“Cast not away therefore your confidence, which has great recompense of reward. For ye have need of patience that after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come, will come, and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith. But if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.” (Heb. 10:35-37)
