17th.: Why are You Slow to Answer
God did not answer Job's prayers (at least not for 37 chapters).
This frustrated Job.
Yet Job continued to appeal to God
“I cry unto thee, and thou does not hear me.
I stand up, and thou regards me not.
Thou art become cruel to me.
With thy strong hand, thou opposes thyself against me.
Thou lifts me up to the wind.
Thou causes me to ride upon it, and dissolves my substance.
For I know that thou wilt bring me to death, to the house appointed for all living.”
(Job 30:20-23).
Job felt like God did not hear him.
Job felt like God was blowing him away, like we will blow away an insect.
(How often do we feel like this?)
Why is God slow to answer?
Nevertheless, Job explicitly trusted God,
'For I that thou wilt bring me ... to the house appointed for all living.'
Will we likewise trust God, when he is slow to answer?
“O Lord, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear!” (Habakkuk 1:2a)
