17th.: Psalm 54, The Ziphites, part 1

David, and his men, hid from King Saul  (1st Sam. 23:15).
Yet, the Ziphites wanted to help King Saul find David.
They wanted to help King Saul arrest David (1st Sam. 16:13)).

“… our part shall be to deliver him [David] into the king’s hand.” (1st Sam. 23:20b).

Before the Ziphite betrayers got back to Saul,
David moved to the wilderness of Maon (1st Sam. 23:24).

Knowing the Ziphites plans, David  made another request,

“Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength. Hear my prayer, O God.
Give ear to the words of my mouth.” (Ps 54:1-2).

David asked God to save David for the sake of God’s name, and with all His might.

David then stated his problem,
“For strangers are risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul.
They have not set God before them. Selah.” (Ps. 54:3).
Specifically, David asked God to consider (Selah) how David’s enemies did not put God first.

We too can ask, as the apostle Paul writes, “Pray … that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men, for all men have not faith.” (2nd. Thes 3:2).
