16th.: Identify & List Your Concerns, Part 4

Moses then let God know that his responsibilities were wearing him down.
5) I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.  (Num 11:14)

This reminds me of, “The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity, but a wounded spirit, who can bear?” (Pr. 18:14).

Moses had lost heart.

6) “And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favor in thy sight” (Num. 11:15a).

However, God didn't let Moses off the hook. Rather God encouraged Moses with,

“Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel …, and I will take of the spirit,
which is upon thee, and will put it upon them, and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee,
that thou bear it not thyself alone.” “And it came to pass, that when the spirit rested upon them,
they prophesied, and did not cease.” (Num. 11:16-17,25b).

Moses had felt the combined burden of being the sole intermediary, between God and Israel,
plus being the head of the government. God’s distributing the ‘spirit of prophecy’ showed
Moses that it was not ‘all on Moses’. If anything, the primary responsibility was on God.
Likewise, when we feel overburdened by God’s work, take these concerns to Him.
