16th.: Abraham’s Countdown, Part I

The Lord moved on from Sarah's laughter behind.
He then turned his attention to the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah (S&G) (Gen. 18:16).
Abraham's nephew, Lot had gone to live in Sodom.
The two companion's stepped aside (Gen. 18:22), as the Lord let Abraham in on a secret.

The Lord was going to destroy S&G; its sins were very great (Gen. 18:20-21).
Oh oh.

Abraham interceded for them (or perhaps just Lot) with,

“Will you also destroy the righteous with the wicked? … That be far from thee to do after this manner,
to slay the righteous with the wicked, that be far from thee. Shall not the Judge of all the Earth do right?” (Gen. 18:23, 25).

The Lord did not reprove Abraham.
Instead, the Lord answered that He would not wipe out S&G, if He found fifty righteous people within its wall (Gen. 18:26).

Like Abraham, let us learn to intercede with God for people.
