15th.: The Lunatic Boy and Unbelief, part 1
Many interesting stories revolved around Jesus. In one case,
“There came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, ‘Lord, have mercy on my son. For he is a lunatic, and sore vexed. For often times he falls into the fire, and often into the water. And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. And Jesus rebuked the devil, and he departed out of him, and the child was cured from that very hour.” (Matt. 17:15-16, 18).
Some forms of lunacy may be cured, or masked, with medicine.
In this case, a demon caused this particular form of lunacy.
Most modern day Christians could not cast out this demon,
because they are not accustomed to asking God to cast out demons,
or they simply think that one is supposed to rely only on doctors for health issues.
There is a place to look to a medicine.
But if we look only to medicine, we limit God.
Psalm 78:41 warned how some of the Jews limited God.
Does God actually want to do great things through us?
When King Asa had diseased feet. “He sought not to the Lord, but to the physicians.” (2nd. Chr. 16:12).
There is a place to go to doctors, but the Lord wants us to also bring those issues to Him, and ask Him to help with the healing.
Would you at least ask God to cast a demon out a person? Why or why not?
“And that which fell among the thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.” (Luke 8:14)
