14th.: Psalm 142, Audible Prayers

The Lord might not always help right away.
From time to time, He lets the pressure build.

Nevertheless, we can bring these ongoing frustrations to God.
The preamble to Psalm 142 declares,
“Maschil of David: A prayer when he was in the cave.”
As with Psalm 57, David wrote this when he hid in a cave, to escape from King Saul, who sought to kill him.

David expressed his frustrations to the Lord in Psalm 57.
He repeated those ongoing feelings in Psalm 142.

David began Psalm 142 with,
“I cried unto the Lord with my voice. With my voice unto the Lord, did I make my supplication.” (Ps. 142:1).
David did not just think these concerns to the Lord.
Furthermore, he audibly spoke these concerns to the Lord,
even though, “God understands our thoughts from afar off.” (Ps. 139:2b).

Audibly expressing our thoughts to God enhances the communication between us and God.
