13th.: God is Always Listening

At Mount Horeb, God gave Moses and Israel the Ten Commandments. (see Exodus Chapter 19)
Deuteronomy chapter 5 reviews the Commandment.
There, the Lord spake out of the midst of a fire (see Deut. 5:22).
When the Israelites heard God speak, they spoke to Moses (Deut. 5:23),

“Behold, … we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire. … If we hear the voice of the Lord our God any more, then we shall die.” (Deut. 5:24-25).

The Lord then spake unto Moses, “I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken unto thee.” (Deut. 5:28b).
God hears us, even when we are not talking directly to Him per-se.

God then told Moses, “O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children forever!” (Deut. 5:29). The biggest problem was that the nation of Israel did not care for God, but kept pushing Him away.

Do we want God to keep His distance from us, or do we want to draw close to Him?

Return to Home
“Curse not the king, no not in thy thought. And curse not the rich in thy bedchamber, for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which has wings shall tell the matter.” (Eccl. 10:20)
