12th.: Please Stop, part 2
Job expressed several thoughts and prayer requests in Job 7:12-21.
We can identify with many of these points.
1) The unrelenting pressure was wearing him out.
a. Usually, sleep can give some rest, but now when he sleeps, he only gets nightmares (v13).
b. He hates his life (v15-16), but presumably, he so respects God’s gift of life, that he won’t take his own.
c. God is so in his face, he does not have time to swallow (v19).
d. Please leave him alone (v16b).
2) What is so special about Job in particular
a. Why is Job so important that God watches him daily (v12).
b. Why does God visit him with pain every morning (v18).
c. Isn’t God the one who defends men (v20c)?
d. Why did God single him out for this treatment? (v20b)
3) Sin
a. Job admits his sin (v20a).
b. He can not do anything to God (v20b).
c. Please pardon his transgression, lest he die (v21).
When we go through difficult times, we can share our heartfelt feelings, and thoughts, with the Lord.
“I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.” (Job 7:11c)
