12th.: Moses’ 1st Response to his Commission
God gave Moses an assignment.
Moses tried to anticipate the problems that he would face.
He began with,
“Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?” (Exo. 3:11).
1. How could Moses return, without being arrested for killing a man?
2. He was just one man, and Egypt was a 'superpower'.
God did not rebuke Moses.God responded with,
“Certainly, I will be with thee.” (Exo. 3:12a).
God would be right there with Moses.
And God would bring his own irresistible force to bear upon Egypt
God then added, “Go return unto Egypt, for all the men are dead, which sought thy life.” (Exo. 4:19).
God let Moses know that he was no longer a fugitive.
God does not object to us anticipating problems that we shall encounter, in doing his work.
“What king, going to make war against another king, sits not down first, and consults whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that comes against him with twenty thousand.” (Luke 14:31)
