12th.: Ingratitude
Ingratitude.
Have you ever had people be ungrateful to you?
God has.
He led the nation of Israel out from being in slavery in Egypt.
Yet they complained, because God had them wander through a wilderness region for many years.
God had also put them on a strict diet of 'manna' to eat. Manna was like coriander seed, white;
and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey. (Ex 16:31), or fresh oil (Num 11:8).
Manna provided all the nutrients their bodies needed.
Nevertheless, they got tired of the same ole, same ole.
The Israelites complained. They wanted the smorgasbord of cucumbers, melons, onions, and other such foods.
They had apparently forgotten how the Egyptians had mistreated them.
They despised what God had done for them, saying
“Why came we forth out of Egypt.” (Num. 11:20c).
They showed no gratitude. The only thing they cared about was satisfying their taste buds.
2nd. Timothy 3:2-4 associates ingratitude with evil.
Let us learn to express thanks for what the Lord has already provided for us.
“For many walk, … that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ, whose God is their belly, … who mind earthly things.” (Phili 3:18-19)
