11th.: Turn Your Attention to the Lord
Not all of Nehemiah's prayers were for the Jews, or the work of God.
At least one of Nehemiah's prayers was self-directed,
“Think upon me, my God, for good, to all that I have done for this people.” (Neh. 5:19)
Nehemiah wanted God to not forget his devotion to God.
Sometime after the wall was rebuilt, Nehemiah had to go to the Assyrian capital, Shushan.
When Nehemiah returned to Israel, he had to deal with the Jewish leaders being difficult.
Nehemial then prayed,
“Remember, O my God, concerning this, and wipe not out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and the offices, thereof.” (Neh. 13:14)
Some time after this, Nehemiah prayed.
“Remember me, O my God, [concerning] this also, and spare me according to the greatness of thy mercy.” (Neh. 13:22b) I
Nehemiah kept turning to God for a variety of reasons. We can learn from his example.
“Help me, O Lord my God. O save me according to thy mercy.” (Ps. 109:26)
