11th.: Sometimes the Answer is: “No!”

We often want to get 'yes' answers from God.
But that will not always be the case.

Below is one case, where King David received a 'No'.

King David's affair with Bathsheba produced a son (2nd. Samuel 11:1 – 12:20).
Shortly after birth, the child became extremely sick.  (2nd Sam. 12:15).
David fasted, lay prostrate, and prayed hard for seven straight days.

After seven days, God answered David, with the death of the child (2nd. Sam. 12:18).
David got up, washed himself, went to the temple, worshipped God, went home, and ate (2nd Sam. 12:19-20).
This stunned David’s servants.

David answered with, “While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept, for I said, ‘Who can tell whether God will be gracious to me; that the child may live. But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.’” King David accepted God’s “No”, and went on with his life.

Sometimes, we just have to accept a 'No'. answer.
“And he said unto me, ‘My grace is sufficient for thee.’” (2nd Cor. 12:9b)
