11th.: Moses: The Commissioning
God commissions people, when he sends them to do a job.
Moses had a unique commissioning.
“And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him [Moses] in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush, and he looked, and behold the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. And Moses said, ‘I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.’ And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, ‘Moses, Moses.’ And he said, ‘Here am I’.” (Exo. 3:2-4).
If God calls one of us specifically by name, it is best to acknowledge verbally.
Proverbs 29:19 gives us a principle to consider,
“A servant will not be corrected by words, for though he understands, he will not answer.” Moses was not needing to be corrected.
By verbally responding, Moses indicated he was ready to listen.
God then said to Moses,
“Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh that thou may bring forth my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” (Ex. 3:10)
How Moses responded to this incredible assignment, will be discussed in the coming days.
“As my Father has sent me, even so send I you.” (John 20:21b)
