10th.: Psalm 59, Part 4, Finale
David began the last section, with a poetic image,
“And at evening let them return, and let them make a noise like a dog,
and go round about the city. Let them wander up and down for meat, and grudge if they be not satisfied.” (Ps. 59:14-15).
Earlier, it was as if David’s enemies went about, barking out boasts.
This time, David transformed his enemies from boasting dogs into homeless curs, silently scavenging for food.
David then promised, “But I will sing of thy power. Yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning,
for thou has been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble. Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing.
For God is my defense, and the God of my mercy."
Shall we likewise promise God to testify about Him:
1) Being merciful
2) Being a defense
3) Being a ‘place’ to relax from the stress of our enemies
4) Giving us emotional/spiritual strength to endure.
David’s heart is so set on God that he wants to proclaim God’s faithfulness.
“That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing, which is in you in Christ Jesus.” (Phile. 1:6)
